TITL: The Message of God Is Clear

INTRO
  • Have you ever played the telephone game…  It seems so easy to get a message confused in those games.
  • Background …
    • Author/Audience:  Paul’s letter to the Galatians was addressed to a group of churches in Galatia, a region of present-day Turkey.
    • Paul wrote to counter those who taught that Christians must follow Jewish Law to be accepted by God.
    • One central passage that carries the purpose of the book is “a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ” (2:16).
1 We can know the Originator of the Gospel vs. 1-5, 10
  • How do we know the originator of the message?
  • a. It comes from Christ Himself v. 1
  • b. It Points to Christ Alone vs. 3-5, 10
  • Apart from the gospel, we have no salvation, no fellowship w/ God, no hope!
2 Sharing the True Gospel vs. 6-9
  • 1 Timothy 1:3 “As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine,”
  • What we are to share?:
    • a. The True Gospel is not Secretive vs. 6-7 Acts 15:24–25 “Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions, it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,”
    • what causes apostasy?
      • some personal crisis, hardship, or loss (a moment of weakness or a root of bitterness)
      • twisted truth
    • b. The True Gospel is to be Accurate vs. 8-9
  • how do we fight apostasy?
    • hold tenaciously to the TRUTH
    • SCRIPTURE must be our final authority
    • here biblical WARNINGS

  • We are in need of making sure we understand the value of the gospel….
    • a. Set aside time each day to spend with Jesus to know Him
    • b. Talk to Jesus each day about what is going on in your life
    • c. Ask Jesus to show you people to share the Gospel
